DhanRakshak is designed with a privacy-first, local-first approach. Your financial data belongs to you and is stored securely on your device.
This policy applies to the current Android release, DhanRakshak v1.4.2, and the services it can optionally connect to.
1. Data Storage
By default, all financial data (expenses, savings, analytics, budgets, recurring rules, statement imports, and currency preference) is stored locally on your device.
No personal financial data is transmitted to any external server unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires it.
2. Cloud Sync (Optional)
If you sign in and enable Cloud Sync:
- Your personal app data may be securely backed up to the cloud so you can restore it on the same or another device.
- This can include expenses, categories, budgets, savings goals, recurring rules, and app preferences that you created in DhanRakshak.
- Data is encrypted in transit and stored securely.
- You may disable cloud sync, trigger a manual sync, or delete cloud backups at any time from the app.
3. Optional Third-Party Connections
DhanRakshak works fully as a local personal-finance tracker. Some optional connections to third-party accounts may be offered on a limited basis (for example Google Sign-In, or a connected expense-sharing account if that option is available to you). These connections are not required and are not a default feature for all users.
If you choose to connect a third-party account:
- The app may read information needed to display it in the app (such as shared expenses or balances from a connected service). Write access is not a general product feature.
- If a connected expense-sharing option is offered again in the future, it will remain limited to read and display of your own connected data on this device.
- Connected data is cached on your device for display. It is not used as DhanRakshak cloud backup of that third-party service.
- You can disconnect the third-party account from the app at any time. That service’s own privacy policy also applies.
4. Analytics, Insights & Notifications
DhanRakshak does not collect personal analytics or track user behavior across apps or websites.
Spending insights, period comparisons, budgets, savings progress, and similar summaries are computed locally on your device.
If you allow notifications, the app may send on-device reminders and alerts (for example budget thresholds, spending summaries, or logging nudges). Notification content is generated from data already on your device.
5. Permissions
The app may request permissions for:
- File / document access (for importing bank statements from PDF, CSV, or spreadsheets — parsing stays on-device)
- Notifications (for reminders and budget alerts)
- Network access (only when you use optional cloud sync, sign-in, or a connected third-party account)
Permissions are only used for their intended functionality. You can decline optional permissions and still use local tracking.
6. Your Control
You can:
- Delete your local data anytime from the app
- Disable cloud sync and delete cloud backups
- Disconnect optional third-party connections
- Export or clear app data
- Delete your account and all associated data — see Account & Data Deletion
7. Data Security
- All sensitive data stored locally is encrypted
- Cloud backups use industry-standard encryption
- We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties
- Authentication is handled securely using industry standards
8. Third-Party Services
Depending on the features you enable, DhanRakshak may connect to:
- Google Sign-In (optional authentication for cloud backup)
- Connected third-party apps that you explicitly authorize, if that option is available on your account (used only to display your own connected data in the app)
When you use those services, their respective privacy policies also apply. We recommend reviewing:

9. Children's Privacy
DhanRakshak is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated as features evolve. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or website.
